It’s easier than you think! Knitting charts are graphic representations of a knitted pattern. It is an abbreviated form of a pattern that eliminates the need for lengthy text instructions. Charts show us what a knitted piece will look like, which helps us work our projects more easily and identify errors more quickly. In this class you will learn step by step how to read a knitting chart for basic knit and purl patterns, simple lace and cables. While reviewing examples of different charts, you’ll learn how to translate chart symbols, where to begin knitting on a chart, which directions to move, and how to identify charts for projects worked flat and in the round. You’ll also be able to understand how pattern repeats are illustrated. With this new skill, you will have access to more patterns than ever!
